Step 1. Your Information.
Please complete the form below allowing me to photograph you/your family.
What to wear- For newborns I typically photograph them naked, swaddled, or draped in blankets. There is no need to bring outfits for your little bean. If you prefer diaper covers or pants throw those in, just make sure they fit nice and snug.
For mom, a well fitting neutral maternity top is a great start. I only photograph the upper body so you can be comfy on the bottom-- no one will ever know you wore your yoga pants! Tops that are fitted photograph best. Click the link below for our pinterest page full of suggestions
For dad, casual and neutral is great. Baby will be mostly undressed so we don't want you looking too fancy or covered up. Click the link below for our printerest page to see how to coordinate with mom.
Colors to avoid are red, orange, yellow, purple-- these accentuate all those jaundice and ruddy tones newborns occasionally have. Colors that photograph well are browns, creams, tans, pinks, blues, light yellow, grey, and neutrals. Click below for some visual outfit suggestions.
What to bring- If you have any special hats, booties, blankets, props, etc. you would like your baby photographed with, go ahead and throw those in
We do have a huge assortment of hats, props, backgrounds etc. at our studio for you to choose from so please don't feel like you have to provide these for your session. Most of our clients bring a couple special items with them and then use ours for the rest.
If you have special ideas for your session please text them to me or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Where to go- Our studio is located at 2702 Montana Ave, just inside the Oliver Building. Enter via the Montana Ave. door, then come up to the second floor. We are just off the elevator, look for Miranda Murdock Photography on the door, we share a studio. Ring Us: (406) 839-5246
There are just a few keys to a successful newborn session
Keep the baby awake for 1-2 hours prior to your session.
Get in a good & long feeding before you leave. Plan and try to get the best feeding possible in right before you leave. After a bumpy car ride with a full belly babies are typically sacked out and ready to be photographed.
Dress baby in something warm that is easy to get out of, a zip sleeper is perfect!
Bring extra food! Babies get extra hungry when they are overstimulated, most babies have 1-4 feeding breaks during their session! Make sure to bring any nursing supplies you need (i.e. shield, pumped milk, etc.) if you are nursing and extra bottles if you are bottle feeding. We do have a boppy so no need to bring that!
Consider this your warning, I keep the studio at 76 degrees (don't worry, your baby was just 98.6 degrees inside of you) during my newborn sessions. This allows baby to be nice and toasty without being held or swaddled and keeps them sleeping nicely. I would dress in light clothes and make sure dads do too.
That's it, thanks for reading and we will see you very soon!
